The Origin of the Ka
(pronounced KAH)
In Egyptian thought, the human soul is made up of five parts: the Ren, the Ba, the Ka, the Sheut, and the Ib. The Ka, or life force, was the Egyptian concept of spiritual essence, that which distinguishes the difference between a living and a dead person, with death occurring when the Ka left the body.
Stephen King also describes the Ka as "the force that causes a destiny to happen... a guide, a destination. [It] signifies life-force, consciousness, duty and destiny."
